Welcome to our November Fine Cider Box tasting notes. We’ve got a fantastic selection of the finest ciders, have a read below to find out more.
Let's start the voyage into fine cider with one of the most beautifully coloured ciders we've seen this year (just look at that rich pink colour!) and it's got a sublime taste to match.
This month’s top Fine Cider pick:
Sassy Cider Rosé - ABV 3%
Sassy Rosé has been lovingly created by two young Frenchmen and childhood friends Xavier d’Audiffret Pasquier and Pierre-Emmanuel Racine-Jourden. In looking to revolutionise traditional Normandy cider they have blended eighteen varieties of apple grown organically in the Château de Sassy’s orchards; this is one of the lowest calorie alcoholic drinks on the market and the cider gets its distinct colour from the pink flesh of the Geneva Crab apple. The resulting cider is clean and sophisticated, a far cry from the funky flavours of traditional Normandy fine cider.
Pulpt Gilly - ABV 5.7%
Based in Hewish, Somerset, Pulpt markets itself as the cider for curious drinkers. A lightly sparkling, uniquely floral balanced cider made from 100% Gilly bittersharp apples. A totally unique, high quality cider that has a strong floral and bright character that is reflective of a good prosecco.
Worleys Special Reserve - ABV 5.4%
Worley's Special Reserve is a keeved cider, made from 100% pure cider apple juice. The result is a naturally sparkling cider of outstanding fruity character with subtle undertones of caramel. It has sweeetness and rounded tannins lifted by a long-lasting carbonation. This mendip based cider producer never adds flavourings and all ciders are both gluten free and suitable for vegans.
Oldfields Applefresco - ABV - 6%
Oldfields Applefresco is produced locally on the family run farm in the Teme Valley, Worcestershire. Applefresco is made from pressed Discovery apples and is a delicate balance of crisp, refreshing flavour, intense fresh apple aromas and elegant design.
Pilton Cider, Max Lux - ABV 4.7%
2014 WAS A TOP YEAR.
The sun beat down on Somerset orchards for 1618 hours in 2014. And as every cider-maker knows, good sunshine makes good apple juice sugars and good apples make good cider.
A keeved cider made from 100% bittersweet at 1057SG, fermented wild and slow into 2015 and bottle aged on the lees since then.
Mellow tannins, subtle fruity sweetness. Finished with hand-printed labels.
Angioletti Secco Italian Fine Cider - ABV 5%
Angioletti cider is produced from 100% apple juice pressed from apples grown in the Dolomites of Italy. Angioletti Secco is a medium dry cider with fine bubbles and tastes of fresh apple and white blossom. This fine and lightly sparkling cider leaves a satisfying, clean and crisp aftertaste.
