Cider of the month: Hogans Cider French Revelation
Hogans Cider French Revelation: 4.8% ABV, A keeved cider made in Warwickshire.
Allen Hogan started making cider as a hobby in 1985 and 12 years ago after he felt he had perfected the process, he plucked up the courage to take his cider to Stratford farmers market and thus Hogans cider was born.
Although things have moved on from those early days. Hogans still create authentic, fresh pressed ciders and we are always excited when they get in touch with new varieties and styles. They really exploit the versatility of the cider apple to make what we think are some surprising, rewarding and sometimes challenging new ciders.
This month we have chosen their French Revelation Cider a Briton styled cider made using the traditional process of Keeving.
Tasting Notes: Hogan’s Breton style cider is smooth, velvety and oh so richly flavoursome. After the big tannic punch, it delivers a natural apple sweetness only years of craft could perfect. A wild, fruity and mature cider.
This fresh pressed drop is smooth and oh so velvety with a big tannic punch followed by a mature, wild and fruity flavour that only years of craft could perfect. It’s delightful and surprising in equal measure, the French proving that sometimes the old ways are still the best.
Enjoy!
